Biography
Background
Shane Schneck is an American designer based in Sweden. HAY writes that he founded his studio, Office for Design, in Stockholm in 2010 and that he previously lived and worked in Milan with the studio of Piero Lissoni. HAY's Phaidon-book page calls him American-born and Milan-based, and says his relationship with HAY began in 2009, when he designed the Ru chair.
Signature Style
HAY sums up his design ethos as making simple but innovative products that challenge industry standards, with a playful or bold element of surprise, for instance in colour, form or materials. In HAY's interview on Bernard he says that a world in which we all strive to own "less, but better" has arrived.
