Sami Kallio is a Finnish-born designer who grew up in Sweden. &Tradition says he honed his woodworking skills there, among them woodturning, which he mastered while training as a cabinetmaker, and that he holds a master's degree in design from the Gothenburg School of Design and Crafts. He is described as an award-winning designer with a studio in Gothenburg.
Signature Style
Furniture and interiors are his field. &Tradition says he turns classical shapes into contemporary ones with an industrial aesthetic, and that both man and machine take part in many of his creations, where industrial manufacturing methods meet handcrafted techniques.
Notable Works
For &Tradition he designed the In Between collection. The designer page lists the In Between armchairs, counter and bar chairs, dining, café, coffee, side, counter and bar tables, and a conference table made to order. With Jakob Thau he forms the duo Thau & Kallio, behind the Betty series.
