Biography
Background
Marie-Aurore Stiker-Métral was born in Paris on 15 March 1981. She studied philosophy for four years, including one year at the University of Urbino in Italy, before taking a design-oriented training at ENSCI-Les Ateliers, from which she graduated in December 2007.
Signature Style
Her graduation project, mentored by Erwan Bouroullec, explored a range of domestic techniques: sewing, embroidery, lace, macramé and weaving. She used them to create furniture, namely storage, a fireside chair and a lamp, with digitally-cut wooden frames and textile surfaces.
Notable Works
At ENSCI she obtained a bursary from VIA to develop her La Pliée chair, which Ligne Roset now produces. With Felipe Ribon she won the competition L'eau à la bouche, organised by Veolia Eau. Her Ligne Roset creations include the Inamma console table, the Guidole floor standard lamp, the Alberti mirror, the Albers occasional table, the Ove low table and the Contrée low tables.
Legacy
Her final dissertation, mentored by Philippe Louguet, dealt with the paradoxes of discretion.
