Ludovica Serafini is an Italian architect and designer. The Palomba Serafini Associati website gives her birth year as 1961 and her birthplace as Rome, and she is named there as a studio founder together with Roberto Palomba. The Milan practice dates from 1994.
Signature Style
In the studio's project pages the two partners are credited jointly, for example as Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba in the text on the Kartell Belvedere chair. That text describes an effort to reinterpret a classic furniture element, Viennese straw, together with carbon fibre. For HiRay, a quotation attributed to the pair says metal is placed in the spotlight and wire is used to create three-dimensional forms.
Notable Works
The work list includes HiRay for Kartell (2021, with later outdoor additions in 2023), Belvedere and Albert (2024), Let It Be for Poltrona Frau (2017), Fly Fly for Foscarini (2008) and the Anna chair for Crassevig (1997).
Legacy
The studio's award record starts in 2001 and runs to 2024; it lists a 2019 Elle Decoration China EDIDA for Best Designer of the year and several Compasso d'Oro ADI mentions.
