Background
Jörg Schellmann has produced and published contemporary fine-art editions since 1969 through Edition Schellmann in Munich and New York. His official Schellmann Art site identifies him as a managing director of Schellmann GmbH. The e15 profile names Joseph Beuys, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Donald Judd and Andy Warhol among the artists whose editions he has produced and published.
Furniture practice
According to e15, Schellmann began developing his own furniture in 2006. His designs draw on industrial and commercial principles and refer to Minimal Art and Conceptualism.
Work for e15
For e15 he created the PLATZ table, SITZ bench and PROFIL shelf.
Design language
e15 describes Schellmann's furniture as radically simple, with functionality treated as a matter of course. The manufacturer characterises the three e15 pieces through subtle, reduced composition.
