Background
Jin Kuramoto is a Japanese designer who established JIN KURAMOTO STUDIO INC. in 2008. His studio's timeline gives his birth as 1976 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, and a 1999 graduation from Kanazawa College of Art, followed by in-house design work from 2000 to 2008.
Signature Style
He designs furniture, home appliances, eyewear and automobiles with the belief that the form of things each tell a different story. His process rests on repeated trial and error, handling materials and prototyping in the studio.
Notable Works
For HAY he designed the Knit coat rack, which his studio dates to 2021. His studio lists clients including HAY, OFFECCT, Sika-Design, HONDA, Nikon, TOYOTA, AGC and Sony.
Legacy
His work has won the Red Dot Award, the Good Design Award and the iF Product Design Award. He has served on the Good Design Award, Compasso d'Oro and iF Design Student Award juries and has taught at several Japanese art universities.
