Collection Story
Origin
Vekst is a 2023 collection of lamps by Simon Legald, shown by Normann Copenhagen in July 2023. Its theme is nature's chaotic symmetry, and it covers two dimmable pendants and one decorative wall lamp.
Design Language
Branches are the model: thin black arms of powder-coated steel fan out into the outline of a treetop, so nature's influence is visible in all of the designs. A bulb is fitted at the end of every arm, enclosed in etched opal glass shaped as a sphere that suggests the first shoots at the end of a stem. LED light turns these bud-like shades into points of glow. Seen from different angles, the web of branches gives a different impression each time.
Key Pieces
The large pendant carries 24 arms and the small pendant 12 arms, and both can be dimmed. Hanging them takes 4 m of black textile cord and 4 m of steel wire under a black steel canopy. The wall lamp has 3 arms, is wired straight into the outlet and cannot be dimmed. Each arm has its own G4 LED bulb of 0.6 W (12 V DC).
