Collection Story
Origin
Fredericia's page for the collection shows three products by Børge Mogensen: The Canvas Chair, the Canvas 21 Chair (sheet date 1968) and The Canvas Chair Outdoor (sheet date 2025). A Fredericia story says the Canvas 21 was originally known as the BM2221 and produced throughout the 1970s.
Design Language
The story describes the Canvas 21 as Mogensen's more accessible piece, with canvas in place of saddle leather and a lighter, smaller form than the Spanish Chair. The outdoor version keeps the silhouette, open frame and exposed joinery, with an FSC-certified teak frame and Heritage performance canvas by Sunbrella.
