Collection Story
Origin
Sum is a modular sofa series by Simon Legald, made by Normann Copenhagen. The manufacturer opens its description with the question of two, four or nine modules, and answers that the result is the same: a well-balanced sofa it holds up as contemporary elegance.
Design Language
The page describes a design that is rigorous and focused yet open in character, with armrests that spread out like a wingspread. Legs that are slim and angled raise the sofa off the floor, set against the full curves of back and arm. Modules join into one continuous form, and the back of the sofa has been designed too, so it can be placed free-standing in a room.
Key Pieces
The sofa is built from eight module types, angled or straight, with open or closed sides, and the series also has a matching armchair, the Sum Lounge Chair.
