Collection Story
Origin
Steelwood is a family of wood-and-steel pieces by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Magis. The Magis product pages date the Steelwood Chair to 2008, the Steelwood Table and the Steelwood Shelving System to 2009, and the Steelwood Coat Stand to 2010. A Magis news item records that the Steelwood Chair was on show at the Etat de siège shop in Paris from 25 January 2008.
Design Language
Across the pages Magis lists, the frames are solid beech, natural, painted or stained, with American walnut also named for the chair and coat stand, and the joints and the chair back are painted steel plate.
