Collection Story
Origin
Slice is a table series by Hans Hornemann for Normann Copenhagen. The fact sheet gives Hornemann and 2014 under Designer / Year Of Design and describes Slice as a classic oak veneer table with an exquisite finish that fits a Scandinavian decor. The original table has a rustic top in which each plank brings out the grain of the wood.
Design Language
Normann Copenhagen says the series is made of natural, high-quality materials that radiate warmth and exclusiveness, with great attention paid to detail and proportion, which gives a solid expression together with a visual lightness. It comes in two versions, one in pure oak and one with a linoleum top and oak edges. The vol. 2 line has an entirely smooth top, where the original table has openings between the boards. The press release points to linoleum's anti-bacterial and self-healing qualities.
Key Pieces
The series began with oak tables. A bar table, a coffee table, round tables and a bench followed. The fact sheet overview shows tables 90 cm deep in lengths of 200, 250 and 300 cm, a vol. 2 table of 84 x 160 cm, round tables of Ø95, Ø120 and Ø200 cm, a bar table of 90 x 200 cm, a coffee table of 42 x 100 cm and a bench of 38 x 160 cm, all in oak and in linoleum versions.
