Collection Story
Origin
The S 1040 is Thonet's patio table, presented as a table for the terrace that is simple, beautiful and sturdy. It is credited to the Thonet Design Team, which develops products in Frankenberg following the tradition and philosophy of Michael Thonet. The table and the S 40 chairs are intended as a matched pair for outdoor use.
Design Language
Every material in the S 1040 resists the weather. The top is slatted from solid Iroko, a dense African wood that resembles teak, and the slats are oiled. The frame is stainless steel tube standing on adjustable glides.
Key Pieces
The S 1040 comes with a square top of 78 x 78 cm or a rectangular top of 150 x 78 cm at a height of 75 cm. The S 40 chairs are named as its companions.
