Collection Story
Origin
Peter J. Lassen designed the Montana System in 1982, when he founded Montana Furniture in Denmark. At launch it consisted of 36 modules in four depths and a few colours; the palette has since grown to dozens of lacquer finishes. Lassen described its starting point as "an abstract square box" from which he removed everything unnecessary.
Design Language
Rounded edges, missing corners and retracted fronts define every module. The boxes are made of 12 mm lacquered MDF in colours developed with Margrethe Odgaard, and can be wall-hung on a suspension rail or set on a plinth, legs or castors.
Key Pieces
Open shelves such as Shelf 1341 (three compartments) and Shelf 1261 (two compartments), cabinets with doors, drawer modules and bedside tables — combined with shelves, trays, glass doors and lighting into personal compositions.
