Inland

Origin

Inland is a sofa series by Anderssen & Voll for &Tradition. It began in 2022 with a two-seater and a three-seater sofa, AV22 and AV23, and grew in 2023 with a lounge chair, AV21, and a pouf, AV32. In 2024 a corner sofa, AV41, and a three-seater with a chaise longue module, AV42, completed it, which the 2024 press release says finishes the family.

Design Language

The AV22 and AV23 pages and the 2022 release say that Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll set out to give a sofa the utmost comfort inside a clearly defined architectural framework; Inland is the low, deep result, with high arms and a warm black steel-footed base meant to look as if it floats. &Tradition describes the series as a line between Italian flair and Scandinavian minimalism. The releases link its self-contained shape to classic mid-century lounge pieces from Norway, the designers' native country, and the plush cushion interior to Italian design. Espen Voll calls the series "a lifted installation of comfort hovering above the floor".
