Collection Story
Origin
The Foyer Series was created exclusively by Vilhelm Lauritzen for Radiohuset in Copenhagen in 1945. Carl Hansen & Søn describes it as three designs that Lauritzen custom created for the building, and says they have been recreated in close collaboration with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. According to the bench page, Radiohuset today houses the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
Design Language
The pieces share a solid oak frame and leather upholstery with handmade buttons. Lauritzen's own page at the manufacturer calls the Radio House a Gesamtkunstwerk designed from the inside out, from the furniture and door handles to the floor plan.
