Collection Story
Origin
Enfold is a Muuto storage family by the Danish designer Thomas Bentzen. It brings the ideas of industrial storage into homes and workplaces, and it comprises the Enfold Sideboard and the Enfold Sideboard Shelves. Muuto visited Bentzen's studio to follow the sideboard from first idea through materials to use.
Design Language
The sideboard started from Bentzen's own workshop table, which pairs a powder lacquered steel base with a solid oak top. He wanted a wooden surface outlined in metal, with room on top for objects and shelves that sit on three different levels. Steel and oak are meant as complementing contrasts: the warmth of the wood set against the coolness of folded metal. The sliding doors are punched and bent into a ridged form.
Key Pieces
- Enfold Sideboard, a storage unit with sliding steel doors, a solid oak top and base, adjustable shelves and discreet cable outlets
- Enfold Sideboard Shelves, a separate component of lacquered bent steel, 99.5 cm wide and 45 cm deep in the version shown
