Collection Story

Origin

The Compile family is Muuto's shelving range by Cecilie Manz. It consists of the Compile Shelving System and the Compile Bookend. Manz opened her own studio in Copenhagen in 1998 and has designed for Muuto since the brand began.

Design Language

The shelving system is simple and refined, with clean lines and a solid build. Its construction follows a clear rule: each shelf is a single building unit, and the tube length sets how high the shelf sits. The logic parallels an unpretentious Scandinavian lifestyle. A low wall at the back of every shelf is a quiet detail that also adds function. The Bookend contributes a clean geometric form in several colours.

Key Pieces

  • Compile Shelving System, built up from single components, or ordered as one of eight ready-made arrangements
  • Compile Bookend, which can stand in several positions to hold books of different sizes, 15 cm wide, 20 cm deep and 19.5 cm high
