Cestone

Origin

Cestone is a Flexform seating family by Antonio Citterio, headed 2008 on its product pages and dated 2008 on the sheet title "CESTONE | CESTONE 09 | ANTONIO CITTERIO | 2008". Flexform marked the sofa's tenth anniversary with a news item quoting the designer: "Time authenticates the validity of the idea".

Design Language

Flexform says the concept overturns the usual view of the living room: where a sofa traditionally stands against a wall, Cestone is designed to stand in the middle of the room. The spotlight falls on the back and sides, which are metal frames upholstered in woven cowhide strips of two widths, woven tightly or loosely, forming a checkerboard pattern that contrasts with the soft upholstered parts.
