Brand Story

Heritage

ClassiCon was founded in 1990 in Munich, emerging from the traditional Vereinigte Werkstätten, which had already produced Eileen Gray's designs under licence. Licences for designs by masters of classic modernism — Eileen Gray, Eckart Muthesius, Otto Blümel and Herbert H. Schultes — formed the cornerstone of the collection.

Philosophy

ClassiCon deliberately creates a suspenseful relationship between classics and contemporary design. The ClassiCon logo guarantees original designs produced with the approval of the rights owners, and designers are involved in bringing their work into serial production. The company favours durable, recyclable materials and prefers to manufacture regionally in Germany, Italy and Portugal with long-standing partners.

Iconic Works

  • Eileen Gray's Adjustable Table E1027, Bibendum Armchair, Day Bed and Tube Light — ClassiCon is the only licensee worldwide for the Eileen Gray Collection
  • Contemporary pieces by Konstantin Grcic, Sebastian Herkner, Neri&Hu and Jader Almeida

Today

The family-run company is shaped by owner Oliver Holy; since mid-2024 he and CEO Timotheus Günak have managed ClassiCon jointly. Since 2003 its showroom, offices and warehouse have been housed in a Munich building by architect Joachim Jürke.
