Vulcano Outdoor Sofa

Overview

Vulcano is a sectional outdoor seating system from Flexform, designed by Antonio Citterio in 2019. Flexform presents the woven pattern it favours in the indoor collection as the distinctive motif of the system, alongside compositional flexibility and a high degree of customization.

Construction

The backrest and armrest structures are austenitic stainless steel 316, and the sofa sits on a perimeter frame in the same alloy. The cushions are padded with polyurethane foam, with polyester fibre in the backrest cushion, and are encased in a breathable water-repellent lining. Upholstery is removable fabric from the outdoor collection, which Flexform states resists weather, sun, chlorine and salt water.

Flexform describes looking for the right materials to ensure optimum performance outdoors. Stainless steel 316, a super alloy, forms the armrest and backrest structures, and the cushions sit inside a breathable water-repellent lining.
