Vuelta Armchair

Overview

Wittmann's product page lists the Vuelta Armchair 80 as "Design: Jaime Hayon (2016)". The page text calls the large lounge chair, with its articulating seam patterns, reminiscent of Viennese Modernism, and says the unusual proportions give the Vuelta chairs a special charm as a solitaire with character or as the perfect counterpart to the Vuelta Sofa. Marking ten years of the design, Hayon introduced a new option: on request, the contours of selected models are traced with a precisely placed welt.

Construction

The brochure's technical page lists a fixed cover with stitched seams in fabric or leather, and metal legs, standard in Bronze, with Black Grey, Chrome, Black Chrome or 24k gold plated for a surcharge; seat height can be changed by −2 cm, +3 cm, +4 cm or +5 cm for a surcharge. The brochure gives Item Nr. 25613 for the Vuelta Armchair 80 and 25613D for the 360° swivel version.

Proportions of the 80 and the 72

Wittmann's text sets the large lounge chair, the 80, beside the compact small armchair, the 72, which it says looks like a small, enchanting monolithic sculpture. Both are described as having unusual proportions that suit a solitaire or a partner to the Vuelta Sofa.

A tenth-birthday detail

For the tenth birthday of the Vuelta design, Hayon added an optional detail: on request, the contours of selected models are traced with a precisely placed welt, which Wittmann says further accentuates the characteristic form.
