Victoria Ghost

Overview

Victoria Ghost is a chair by Philippe Starck for Kartell, dated 2005 on the Kartell data sheet. The Kartell page describes a classic line: a rounded back that recalls the shape of antique medallions, set above a seat that is linear and geometric. It is offered in clear or coloured polycarbonate and, according to the page, is made in a single injection mould.

Construction

The data sheet names the material as Polycarbonate 2.0, from transparent or mass-dyed renewable raw material. Kartell describes the chair as stable, strong and collision-proof, and says it copes with the effects of the weather. A fire-tested transparent version (code 5856) is listed for the Crystal colour.

Medallion back, geometric seat

The Kartell text contrasts two shapes in one chair. The back is rounded, like the antique medallions it recalls, while the seat is described as linear and geometric. Kartell adds that the result is a very charismatic product with a personality of its own.

A year on the data sheet

The data sheet heads the model "VICTORIA GHOST 2005" with the credit "Design Philippe Starck". It adds a note that the offer of transparent plastic seating with Victoria Ghost also includes a fireproof version, tested to the IT UNI 9177 fire reaction class 1.
