Description
Overview
Twiggy Floor is an arc floor lamp designed by Marc Sadler for Foscarini in 2006. Foscarini describes a fine arched line, a flexible sign that suspends a large diffuser in mid-air; the stem is made of composite material, flexible like a fishing rod, and its height is adjustable. The lamp lights the area underneath directly and diffuses a warm, ambient light upwards.
Construction
The diffuser and the rod are made of fibreglass-based composite material, liquid coated. A translucent polycarbonate upper diffuser disc and a PMMA lower diffuser disc with a polyprismatic internal surface close the shade. The round base is epoxy powder coated metal. The lamp comes with 4 counter-weights that go into a seat above the diffuser to adjust the height; additional arc-extending rods are available upon request.

Story
A fine arched line
Foscarini's page describes Twiggy as a fine arched line, a flexible sign which by magic suspends a large diffuser in mid-air, a floor arc lamp that meets multiple setting and lighting requirements. The data sheet dates it to 2006 and names Marc Sadler as designer.
An icon of arc lamps
The data sheet says the stem is flexible like a fishing rod, with adjustable height, and calls the design simple yet brilliant and a Foscarini icon. Another Foscarini page calls the floor lamp a simple and genius idea that has become an icon of designer arc lamps. The data sheet adds that the LED grouping has been redesigned to reflect a more uniform light.
