Description

Overview

Moroso lists the Tropicalia chair among Chairs and Outdoor living, with the credit "by Patricia Urquiola, 2008". In the 2026 data sheet the chair has four codes: 464 varnished, 465 stainless steel, 467 varnished with arms and 468 stainless steel with arms.

Construction

The product page states a tubular frame of stainless steel or of steel with powder coat, rated for outdoor use, standing on PVC glides, with polymer cord woven on it. The product sheet shows the chair in weaving A and weaving B, and the same for the chair with armrests.

Specifications

  • Bases: six varnished colours, or a stainless steel base
  • Cord: translucent thread under TR0, recycled-content thread (30%) under TR1
  • Chair 465 drawing: 54, 56, 81, 45 and 44 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing)
  • Chair with arms 468 drawing: 59, 56, 81, 67, 45 and 44 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing)

Story

One chair, four codes

Where the data sheet draws the chair, it splits it by base and by arms: 464 and 465 without arms, 467 and 468 with arms. The July 2026 product sheet repeats each code with a TR0 and a TR1 prefix, so that TR0464 and TR1464 describe the same varnished chair in two cord families.

Patricia Urquiola, 2008

The Moroso product page dates the chair to 2008 and credits Patricia Urquiola. The product sheet describes the turn of the wire as similar to a pencil stroke on a surface that is graphic and structural at once.
