Description

Overview

Torii Nest Outdoor, designed by nendo for Minotti, brings the indoor Torii Nest to open-air living with round-edged volumes and thin profiles. The woven backrest forms an enveloping nest around soft cushions.

Construction

The backrest is tubular stainless steel covered in woven polypropylene fibre, and the seat is plywood veneered in solid teak upholstered underneath in water-repellent fabric. Cushions are polyurethane foam and eco-friendly viscose fibre with completely removable upholstery, and the feet are extruded aluminium in polished Bronze.

Specifications

  • Three cord colours
  • Cane-inspired weave with a larger mesh

Story

From indoors to open air

Torii Nest was designed for indoor environments in 2020 and then moved to open-air living spaces. The chairs and sofas keep structural details linked to Japanese tradition.

A nest of cord

The woven backrest takes its design from cane, but with a larger mesh that lets light and air through. It embraces and encloses the soft cushions.
