Description

Overview

The Terrazzo Table by Daniel Enoksson for HAY has an electro-galvanized steel tabletop, powder coated to make it extra resilient, on a terrazzo base. It is designed to withstand the outdoor environment and suits all kinds of indoor and outdoor use.

Construction

Steel forms the tabletop and the column, and an outdoor powder coating covers both. The base is polished terrazzo: fine marble and dyed cement are poured into a specially developed mould, and the resulting stone is polished by hand. A long bolt inside the pillar fastens the terrazzo base to the sheet metal top. Assembly is needed.

Specifications

  • Size: 70 x 70 x 74 cm (AA698-A371-AB06)
  • Material: steel top and column with a powder coat, polished terrazzo base
  • Colour: sky grey tabletop and column, red terrazzo base

Story

Terrazzo as the base

Daniel Enoksson regarded terrazzo as an obvious choice for the base, partly for its excellent durable properties but more importantly because its unique and distinctive finish makes an effective contrast against the stark simplicity of the tabletop. The top is made of electro-galvanized steel and powder coated to be extra resilient.

The designer

Daniel Enoksson is a Swedish designer who founded his studio in Stockholm in 2008 and graduated from the Beckmans College of Design. For HAY he has designed the Terrazzo Table.
