Description

Overview

Talamo is a 2011 bed by Damian Williamson. A thin steel platform and precisely shaped feet keep the mattress support visually light, while the upholstered headboard introduces a soft, continuous plane.

Construction

The feet are made from aluminium alloy and come polished, black painted, or with natural or black nickel-satin finishes. The steel frame carries bent-beech strips, and the headboard combines polyurethane with heat-bound polyester fibre.

Specifications

Fabric and leather covers are removable. Model 1883 is listed at 176 x 216 cm when paired with the selected 170 x 200 cm mattress. The largest vertical value shown in the drawing is 88 cm, but its axis is not labelled; the sheet separately identifies the model's foot height as 17.5 cm. Zanotta also offers lengths for 210 and 220 cm mattresses on request.

Story

Directness in proportion

Williamson described Talamo as a bed that does not pretend to be something else. The manufacturer's presentation focuses on clearly defined details and proportions, treating the bed as a platform for sleep and everyday intimacy.

Relation to William

The designer's statement places Talamo in relation to his William sofa. That connection is expressed through the raised platform, slender metal supports and measured upholstery rather than through a shared collection designation.
