Description
Overview
Tacito is a storage unit designed by Alessandro Stabile for Magis in 2024. Its structure (sides, back and shelves) is painted MDF, the doors are felt and the feet are anodized aluminium.
Construction
The doors are made of compressed recycled polyester, using the technology applied to sound-absorbing panels, and are sheathed in fabric on the front and the back in a single production process. The fabric also acts as the connecting hinge, which is positioned at the centre of the unit. Magnets concealed in the edge of the body and the door close the storage space. The aluminium feet allow their height to be adjusted.

Story
A hinge made of fabric
Alessandro Stabile has said that, looking at sideboards, he noticed how the standard metal hinges that let the doors open took away from the elegance of the piece. Tacito answers this with a hinge that is part of the door: the fabric that sheathes the doors also connects them.
Doors with a technical role
The doors are compressed recycled polyester made with the technology used for sound-absorbing panels, so the felt is both the visible surface and a technical component. There is no separate handle: the whole edge of the door is the grip, helped by the bevelled edge of the body, so the door can be opened from any position.
