Story
An unglazed kiln mark as a design detail
Zanotta says Philippe Malouin was inspired by the unglazed base of a vase, left bare where it touches the kiln wall during vitrification. The process normally treats this as a side effect of production.
Turned into the Ta.Ba.Ce. detail
In the Ta.Ba.Ce collection the mark becomes a distinctive detail. Zanotta writes that the choice creates a play of textures and contrasts, emphasises the contour lines of the tables and gives them a unique and recognisable identity.
