Description
Overview
The SWINGREST Hanging lounger by Daniel Pouzet is part of DEDON's SWINGREST collection. DEDON's press text calls it the ultimate hanging lounger, perfect for hanging on the terrace or veranda or even indoors. It shares part of its name and most of its structure with the NESTREST hanging lounger, borrowing the basket-like bottom of that earlier piece, and DEDON says it feels more spacious while seeming to take up less space.
Construction
The basket is woven in DEDON Fiber. For the design Pouzet developed a suspension system, a 180° rotating tabletop and a specially created cord that wraps around the exposed tubing. DEDON lists seven fabric families for the cushions, and an optional fabric curtain cover provides shade and privacy while letting those inside see out.
Specifications
- 196 × 193 cm on DEDON's measurement drawing, with 67 cm marked on the side; the press kit gives Ø 195 cm
- 400-490 cm marked as the suspension height
- Fibre colours: Natural, olive
- Cushion fabrics: seven fabric families on the product page
Story
Born on Dedon Island
DEDON's press text says SWINGREST is one of the first products to emerge from Dedon Island resort, its Outdoor Living Lab in Siargao, Philippines. Daniel Pouzet, co-architect and designer of the resort, took his inspiration from the extra-high ceilings of its villas.
From NESTREST to SWINGREST
Pouzet borrowed the basket-like bottom of his earlier NESTREST to create a work that DEDON says feels more spacious and fits more people. Instead of complicating the concept, he focused on refining the details: the suspension system, the 180° rotating tabletop and the cord around the tubing.
