Description
Overview
Surface is a multipurpose small-table series designed by Vincent Van Duysen in 2010. B&B Italia describes it as minimalist, geometric, linear and almost modular, with a high degree of customisation.

Construction
For TSF120, the frame is veneered wood-particle panel. Other listed variants add solid wood and MDF sections. Steel sheet or HPL is used at the sides, drawn steel or HPL at the baseboard, and steel with plastic for the adjustable feet.
Specifications
- Representative variant: TSF120
- Largest drawing values, not labelled with axes: 120, 60 and 37 cm
Story
Sources named by the designer
B&B Italia attributes the idea to Van Duysen and records two visual references: a painting by Piet Mondrian and the sculptures of Donald Judd. The result is described as a series rather than a single fixed table.
Reduced forms and finish contrasts
The manufacturer links Surface to reduced forms, essential materials and natural colour choices. Wood and metal are combined with satin and glossy colours, while the restraint is presented as a search for balance rather than simple reduction.
