Steeve

Overview

Steeve is Jean-Marie Massaud's 2015 sofa system for residential and contract use. Freestanding one-, two- and three-seat pieces sit alongside central, end and corner modules for linear or turning compositions.

Construction

Representative two-seat article 5231 is fully upholstered and can use fabric, leather, coated fabric or customer-supplied covering. The outer and inner structures may be coordinated or specified in two colours, and the seat and back cushion covers are removable.

Specifications

The official drawing for article 5231 prints largest values of 166, 83 and 76 cm without axis labels. Exposed-wood outer structures and coordinated ottomans broaden the family beyond this upholstered configuration.

Solid volume, light support

Arper sets Steeve's architectural body against a slender raised base. The contrast keeps the upholstered volume visually precise while allowing wood or covering choices to change the outer expression.

Natural modularity

The family grows through central, end and corner elements rather than one fixed composition. Freestanding sofas, an armchair, benches and ottomans let the same formal system answer smaller layouts as well as connected seating plans.
