Stacked Storage System

Overview

The Stacked Storage System sideboard by Julien De Smedt for Muuto is both versatile and functional, a system that can be arranged and rearranged to suit the look and use of a space. Configuration 1 in Brown Green (STSBDC101) measures 262 cm wide and 121 cm high.

Construction

In the lacquered versions every side is cut out of MDF, glued together and painted with three layers of PU lacquer. In the oak version every side is cut out of fiberboard with oak veneer and glued together.

Shelving units stacked atop one another

Julien De Smedt says the idea came from shelving units he had stacked atop one another at home, an arrangement that worked but was a mess. That is where he discovered the flexibility of the design if it was executed in the right way. He wanted the form to be simple and clean, as a response to the messy look of the shelving units in his home.

A system for traditional storage

Muuto describes the Stacked Storage System as a design that can be arranged and rearranged time and again, bringing a creatively modern perspective to traditional storage. De Smedt compares the early days of the system to playing with Lego bricks: so simple, yet you can do many things with it.
