Silhouette Sofa

Overview

Silhouette 3 Seater is the three-seat model of the Silhouette series that GamFratesi designed for HAY. HAY points to the smooth curve of the back, and says the angular front and the piping details keep the sofa compact and economical with space while it stays light and spacious.

Construction

The 3 Seater variant pages list black powder-coated steel, chromed steel or oiled solid oak legs, a low or a high back, and leather piping.

GamFratesi is the Copenhagen design agency of Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi, founded in 2006. HAY's archive of designer interviews lists a talk on the Silhouette Sofa by GamFratesi dated September 2018, and HAY's Phaidon-book page shows a Silhouette 2 Seater sofa with a Tulou coffee table under the caption 2018.

Private and public use

HAY calls the sofa a natural choice for defining space and creating intimacy, in large and small areas and in private as well as public settings, because of its configurations and structural language.
