Overview
Sestiere is a collection of contemporary vases by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina, built on traditional Murano glass-blowing. Each vase is a blown glass ball almost harnessed by a net of glass cords.
Construction

- Cords: Murano glass cords, each called a 'morisa', applied by hand to the exterior and decorated with 'rigadin', the striped motif of the lagoon.
- Variation: the sheet notes that vase height can vary by up to +/- 8 mm from the standard.
Specifications
- 23 x 23 x 37 cm (573 01/02).
Story
A glass partnership
Cassina describes Sestiere as a collection of contemporary vases that preserves and interprets the Venetian glass legacy, perpetuating traditional glass processing and reinterpreting it as a lively tribute to Venice.
One of a kind
Vase and cord are described as two very different glass languages that co-exist in a partnership of form, function and craftsmanship. Because each cord is applied by hand and differs from the next, each vase becomes a unique piece.
