Overview
The Sen Armchair is a lounge armchair by Kengo Kuma & Associates for Walter Knoll. It brings opposites together: opulent upholstery seems to float inside a geometric frame, and the frame stays visually distinct from the volume.
Construction
The frame is sectional steel, highly polished and chrome-plated, and the seat and back have a wooden construction. Fixed seat and back cushions are a cold cure foam sandwich with wadding as the outer layer, and the seat carries a micro-compartment spring core.

- Armrests: top-mounted, covered in the same leather as the carcass, or in leather Select black when the armchair is upholstered in fabric

Story
A unity of opposites
Sen is a unity of opposites. Its upholstery appears to float within a geometric frame, and line and volume reinforce each other to give a picture of timeless, effortless elegance.
Hard and soft together
Hard and soft, heavy and lightweight stay clearly separated from one another and yet have a unique effect together. The sectional steel frame is crafted in high-gloss chrome.
