Sandy

Overview

Sandy is an outdoor sofa by nendo for Minotti. A single continuous line forms the armrest at one end and runs into the seat and backrest at the other, resting on flat elements with ultra-slim legs. The Sandy family is projected for permanent outdoor use in residential and Hospitality settings.

Construction

The frame is entirely aluminium with an exterior-grade polyester powder-coat in a glossy anti-fingerprint finish. Separate seat and backrest cushions in high-resilience polyurethane foam and viscose fibre have a water-repellent polyester casing; a zip joins them and teak frogs hold them to the structure. Their covers are completely removable, and the feet are adjustable black polyethylene.

One gesture, arm to back

Sandy starts from a continuous, carefully balanced design gesture. In an open-air setting it becomes a sinuous ribbon that wraps and unfolds, forming the armrest at one end and extending into the seat and backrest at the other.

A base of flat elements

That line rests on a geometric, rigorous base made of flat elements on ultra-slim legs. The frame is entirely aluminium, chosen for its durability outdoors and for a sleek presence that pairs easily with more substantial pieces.
