Story
Tradition with a contemporary view
Thonet's page says the design by James Irvine delicately combines the tradition of Thonet with contemporary sensibilities. In the S 123 metal is the dominant material, and the curved tubular steel loop under the seat is the foot support.

Adjusted in one move
The gas pressure spring regulates the seat height steplessly, and the foot support moves with it, so the distance between seat and footrest stays right for the user.
