Description

Overview

Rise Wall Lamp Stainless Steel is a plug-in wall lamp by Marianne Andersen for Normann Copenhagen, made of stainless steel and ash. It weighs 0.48 kg.

Construction

A base in lacquered ash and a cylindrical shade in stainless steel are held together by a turning joint, so the shade can be rotated through 350 degrees using a small integrated handle. Inside the shade the finish is white, and holes on top are there for an optimal light effect. The lamp is screwed on the wall and the parts slide together. Power is supplied by a white textile cord (2 m) with a switch.

Specifications

W10 x D17 x H9.7 cm (Rise Wall Lamp Stainless Steel, 607940). Socket E14, maximum load 40 W, not dimmable; ratings class II and IP20.

Story

Simplicity as the goal

Rise is a wall lamp by Marianne Andersen that has belonged to the Normann Copenhagen lamp collection since 2016. Simplicity was a specific goal throughout the design process: she wanted an immediate and intuitive design in which only the most necessary parts are prominent, and she knew she was close when the lamp consisted of only two elements and two materials.

Ash against steel

The wooden base in ash is an organic, warm material placed close to the wall, chosen for a soft transition between the lamp and the room. Against it stands the raw, industrial look of the shade. In February 2023 Normann Copenhagen launched the lamp in this brushed stainless steel variant.
