Description
Overview
The Pipe sofa scales up Sebastian Herkner's volume-first thinking for Moroso. A longer seat sits beneath a single large cylindrical backrest that runs the full width like a soft roll and is ready to welcome two people. Seat and backrest remain two independent volumes, and the void between them lightens the whole.
Construction
The backrest is a cold-injected polyurethane foam roll, and the seat is a wood structure with density-graded foam padding. The tubular steel base has five finish options. The upholstery cannot be taken off. With no load applied, the seat is 38 cm high.

Story
An embrace that grows wider
When the space grows wider, an embrace can become more generous too. The sofa enhances volume rather than slimming it down: a longer seat is paired with one backrest that spans the whole width, so the piece feels compact yet generous, essential yet anything but neutral.
Sculptural and informal
Part sculpture to be looked at, part open seat to be lived in, the sofa is informal and made for unhurried conversation. In the home it defines the room without weighing it down; in lounges, lobbies and hospitality spaces it can become a recognisable sign for an interior project.
