Construction

The frame is solid fir (Picea abies) and chipboard with elastic straps, padded with variable-density polyurethane foam under a light velvet cover. In depths 100 and 120 the seat cushion is shaped polyurethane with a recycled, biodegradable polyester fibre insert; the back cushions use the same fibre; covers are 100% cotton. The outer cover is removable.

Story

Expressive rationality

Molteni&C introduces the Paul sofa as a piece that reflects Vincent Van Duysen's commitment to expressive rationality: comfort, balanced form, reassuring lines and thoughtful detailing. The datasheet adds that the neat design of the die-cast feet accentuates a lightweight impression, and that the double seams and generous dimensions look good even in the centre of a room.

Paul New Eco

The page describes a Paul New Eco series that uses Primaloft Bio, a recycled and biodegradable polyester fibre, and upholstery fabrics made without azoic colorants. It also names Reflect, a textile developed with Kvadrat and designed by Patricia Urquiola, with a diagonal pattern and 23 colours derived from recycled PET bottles.
