Description
Overview
Oskar is Vincent Van Duysen’s 2015 architectural table for B&B Italia. The manufacturer says its name pays tribute to Oscar Niemeyer and presents it in three rectangular sizes and one square size.
Materials and structure
The top may combine wood-particle panel and veneered solid wood, MDF wood-fibre panel, glass or marble with a matt polyester finish. A drawn-steel lower frame supports solid-wood legs, with felt ferrules at the floor.
Representative size
The official TO300 composition drawing gives W 300 × D 110 × H 73 cm.
Story
A tribute in the name
Van Duysen explains that the name acknowledges Oscar Niemeyer and, more broadly, the modern architects he admires for fluidity, sensuality and expression through materials.

Cathedral glass
B&B Italia describes a cathedral-glass version whose irregular surface is produced by placing the hot sheet over an imperfect metal surface before cooling. The company links this treatment to the table’s play of volumes and finishes.
