Overview
One Step Up Bookcase High White is a bookcase by Francis Cayouette for Normann Copenhagen, designed in 2010 and inspired by the ladder as an object. Several units can be placed beside each other to build a bookcase system, or one can be used as a light room divider.
Construction
The frame is lacquered ash and the shelves are powder coated steel in white. The unit is flat-packed: the ladder-like frame is folded out and the shelves put in place. Each shelf carries approx. 15 kg.
Specifications
78 x 45 x 200 cm (One Step Up Bookcase High White, 601000).
Story
Inspired by the ladder
Francis Cayouette is preoccupied by multiuse and by products that can be used in various ways. The classic ladder, which folds together and moves to wherever it is needed, seemed a logical form for a shelving unit, and One Step Up keeps visible fittings and a wooden frame while having the qualities of quality furniture.
Flexible storage
One Step Up creates room and frame for storage and is easy to move from one place to another. Units can be combined into a shelving system or used as a light and airy room divider, with natural ash and industrial metal shelves creating an interesting dynamic.
