Novetrenta Armchair

Overview

The Novetrenta | upholstered armchair is Cassina's outdoor version of a Vico Magistretti armchair taken from the company's Historical Archive. The page describes a project that combines formal rigour, comfort and attention to sustainability.

Construction

• Frame: iroko wood, solid, built in Cassina's own carpentry workshop; left natural or finished in Polvere or Rosso Cina, a matt lacquer with an open pore.
• Padded seat: polyurethane foam (part of the polyol content recycled) and recycled polyester fibre wadding, under a water-repellent fabric.
• Upholstery: a selection of removable fabrics; the padded version can be completely disassembled.

From the Historical Archive to the terrace

Cassina took the Novetrenta armchair, designed by Vico Magistretti, out of its Historical Archive and presented an outdoor version. According to the page, the design balances formal rigour and refinement and gives shape to a seat of discreet, timeless elegance.

A padded seat with a circular approach

The padded and soft seat uses recycled materials and is covered with removable fabrics. With a circular approach in mind, Cassina designed it so that it comes completely apart and its materials can be recovered afterwards.
