Naviglio

Overview

Naviglio (2020, Yabu Pushelberg) is a seating collection of curved, linear and terminal elements, chaise longues and ottomans. B&B Italia describes a seating base that works as a riverbed, holding a backrest and armrest as sinuous as a watercourse, and a sofa without seat cushions.

Construction

• Inside: steel tubes and profiles, with flexible polyurethane foam (cold-shaped) beneath a polyester-fibre covering
• Armrest cushion (NA60_B): visco-elastic polyurethane in polyester fibre and cotton, with a lead-chip counterweight
• Feet: thermoplastic material
• Cover: fabric, with the decorative section in Bellano fabric

Structure and shape

The page calls Naviglio a visual dialogue between structure and shapes. Synthesis is the project's essence and starts from its name: the seating base is a riverbed, and each shape is an ergonomically designed piece of a puzzle that joins a single cohesive unit.

In the designers' words

Glenn Pushelberg says: "We aimed to create a collection that was a visual dialogue between structure and form; how shapes interact and may be brought together to create their own unique whole."
