Story
A table named for a painter
The architect and designer Neptun Ozis, who comes from Istanbul, created the Moualla Table for Walter Knoll in tribute to the painter Fikret Moualla (1903 to 1967). Moualla was a mentor and good friend to Sadi Ozis, the father of the designer, and in 1964 Sadi Ozis developed a chair of the same name for the Fine Arts Academy in Istanbul.
Lines drawn by hand
The lines of the table were drawn freehand by the architect. The top seems to float over the framework, and the details show in the longitudinal grain and the precise finishing of the edges.
