Description

Overview

The Morrison Hannah Chair returns Andrew Morrison and Bruce Hannah's 1973 design to contemporary workplaces. Knoll reengineered the office version in 2024 while preserving its distinctive cushioned seat and back.

Construction

An aluminium frame carries separate seat and back cushions. Precisely placed buttons secure the upholstery and shape the lumbar area. The current office chair adds two foam densities, a revised back pitch and four degrees of forward tilt.

Specifications

  • 5-star armchair: W 23.6 x D 24.5 x H 31.1-35 in
  • Seat height 16.3-20.1 in
  • Swivel, rocking action and pneumatic height adjustment

Story

A design restored

Morrison and Hannah designed the chair in 1973, presenting light task seating as approachable rather than imposing. Knoll's 2024 return makes that historical design available again with revised support for current work patterns.

Updated movement

The new engineering addresses posture through a forward tilt, a rocking mechanism and separate foam densities for the seat and back. These changes are specific to the office-chair version; Knoll also lists a fixed side-chair format.
