Overview
Mode Desk is a compact work desk designed by Afteroom for Herman Miller. Its rectangular top and slender base are kept visually simple while incorporating cord control and optional storage.
Construction and options
The desk uses a high-pressure laminate top over a powder-coated steel base. A trough under the worksurface and a routing slot in the rear leg organize cables. An optional drawer cabinet can be mounted on either side, with separate finish choices for the top, cabinet, and handles.
Dimensions
Both the open desk and the storage-equipped version are listed at 42 inches wide, 22 inches deep, and 29 inches high on the current specs page.
Story
A compact brief
Afteroom reduced the desk to direct proportions and clean lines while retaining the functions required in a small work area. Herman Miller describes this balance as minimalist without sacrificing utility.
Functions kept within the structure
Cable routing is integrated below the surface and through a rear leg instead of being presented as an added accessory. The optional cabinet uses the same compact footprint and can be fitted to either side, allowing the storage arrangement to change without producing a separate desk size.
