Description

Overview

Misfits sits in the Seating Systems and Sofas groups of the Moroso catalogue, with the line "by Ron Arad, 2007". The page text describes elements with pliable volumes for a sculptural yet highly comfortable seating range. The data sheet lists six elements: Corner 1 (270), Corner 2 (271), Central 1 (272), Central 2 (273), Pouf 1 (274) and Pouf 2 (275).

Construction

The sheet gives cold injected polyurethane for the elements, with a steel frame inside. The feet are black polypropylene glides screwed to the frame. Because of the shapes, the collection is made in wool only, and the page names Divina by Kvadrat. The covers are not removable.

Specifications

  • Foam: the standard build meets CAL TB 117 and has no flame retardants; the BS 5852 crib 5 flame-retardant version is also listed
  • Corner 1 (270): drawing values 100, 100, 88, 68 and 43 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing)
  • Pouf 1 (274): drawing values 100, 100, 36 and 30 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing)
  • Covers: wool, Divina by Kvadrat; not removable

Story

Six elements in the data sheet

The Misfits sheet shows its range as plain element drawings: two corner elements, two central elements and two poufs, each with its own code from 270 to 275. The corners and centrals are drawn on a 100 by 100 cm plan, and the poufs on the same 100 by 100 cm plan at a lower height. Each drawing prints its figures without axis names.

Ron Arad, 2007

The Moroso page credits Misfits to Ron Arad with the year 2007, and the data sheet carries the same credit line, Design Ron Arad, 2007. Both give 2007 for the whole range of six elements.
