Description

Overview

The Max sofa is a stand-alone sofa designed by Antonio Citterio in 1983. Flexform calls it a sculptural icon with sinuous lines: a tubular metal structure carries a kidney bean-shaped seat cushion and a cylindrical seat back.

Story

An icon from 1983

Flexform says the Max sofa has kept its iconic appeal since 1983. The page stresses its sinuous lines and sculptural presence rather than a technical feature, and lists homes, waiting rooms, corporate offices, lounge areas and boutiques as places where it holds its own.

A famous photograph

The black and white optical-print leather version is described as a trendy one that entered the collective imagination through a memorable photograph by Gabriele Basilico.
